MOVIE REVIEW: PROJECT X

The party you've only dreamed about.

I know this movie is kind of disturbing. You could read the other blogs and skip this one if you don’t see it fit to your level of understanding.

Here’s the link of the movie’s synopsis you won’t be grasping as you read my movie review.

“Tonight’s about the girls we never had a shot at. Tonight’s about changing the game.”

It’s a movie showing how boys do everything to be cool; how teenagers behave when no parent is present; how white girls take their tops off and how one night and one party changes the names of these three young men in the society they're in.

This movie is kind of overwhelming in its own way. I have chosen this because I want others to (also) learn all the wrong lessons this party movie brings. Have fun reading!

**************************

Everyone at high school wants to be cool. Everyone wants to be the cool guy girls will look at mouth open. Everyone wants to be the cool chick guys will love to get. Thomas, JB and Costa are just three of those who are struggling to make a name.

This made Costa, the group’s mastermind to everything stupid, desperate on making Thomas’ birthday as memorable as every party they were not invited to. The movie showed the massive influence of technology and social networks which, after enabling so many teenagers be informed about the said party, resulted to an epic teenage house party in a quiet Californian suburb that spirals out of control.

Costa even hired security guards who, unbelievably, were of great help to the project x.

*************
A lot of music. A lot of boobs. So basically, if you’re a homeowner, it’s a horror movie but if you’re a teenager, it a woooooh!

The movie is funny in a shocking way, but parents will be appalled at its message: that a shy teen "needs" a huge party to break out of his shell and become a social success, regardless of the fact that the cost is thousands of dollars in damage.

If you’re not popular, you will get everybody wasted and the next morning he’s cool. And if you’re a girl, all you have to do is take off your clothes and make out with several boys and the next morning everyone looks up at you like you’re some kind of a royalty. Dress up like a slut and you get the guy you want.

Project X takes the perspective that a great party is one in which we can turn off our brains and let our bodies go wild. But that doesn't change the fact that it's too intense for teens, and too disturbing for parents.

With Project X, it’s not watching a party movie. It’s being in that party movie. This disturbing, fun, cute, sexy, bad ass movie made me laugh the whole time. And scared at the end. And I couldn’t put into words how crazy it was.

***********
Well, surprisingly, I was able to pick some lessons from the movie.
One is that if we know our parents trust us, it is our obligation to keep not break this trust. Thomas’ parents left entrusting him the house, the dog and their dog Milo. He even received a minivan as a gift. What he returns is a disaster.

Another is that not everything our friends say is good for everyone. It’s not bad to tell them when they are wrong. Costa invited so many people without even telling the birthday celebrant. Costa made Thomas do stupid things. One was trying to get a shot at the hottest girl in the party. Costa made him believe than everything will be alright and that nothing bad will ever happen. But was he right? Was Thomas right on trusting so much to Costa regarding the matter? No.
Sometimes we are too busy looking for the right one when in fact that person is just waiting for you to notice him/her.
Not everything we see from movies is good. They may show how going to parties, drinking a lot and consuming drugs could be happy, all fun and games that they fail to expose the damages that are usually brought by these activities. Project X is not one of them because it showed the consequences and all. SOME PARTIES END DISASTROUSLY!

Lastly is that we don’t have to make a fool of ourselves to be able to fit in in the society. Sometimes the extreme desire to be popular just causes more destruction. Teenagers, there are a lot of ways to be known and to have a name. There are better things to do than getting wasted.

Thank you so much for reading. And just so you know, PROJECT X 2 now getting prepped up.

"To the break of dawn, yo!"
